We are 6 months out from our last concert date of August 23, 2008. Not a week goes by that we don't miss a part of Living Sacrifice in our lives. It was not only God's call on our lives for so many years, but part of who we still are and always will be. We are still getting calls to sing and hearing from people, knowing our music is living on. How encouraging to know God is still using our music and I know he'll continue.

Winter has gone by quickly, but here in the midwest...it's April and we are still COLD!!! A brief run down of what's happening in life: Kyle is a school counselor in Bevier, MO and is coaching HS and MS Track. He's the AWANA TnT Director in Children's Ministry at our home church, Macon First Baptist in Macon, MO. He's called on frequently to speak to our children, youth and otherwise. Patty works as the Communications Director at Macon First Baptist. She assists with the main Worship Band and also leads the Student Worship Band. Lisa is working at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville in Quality Improvement. Marty teaches and coaches at Schuyler County R-1 School in Lancaster, MO. Cole is in 5th Grade in Kirksville and just finished basketball season in his team, THE HEAT. Marty and Lisa keep the calendar busy following his games.

God is shaping and molding us into what He wants for this season in life. Juggling jobs, schedules, church ministry and activities fills our days now, but we continue to seek what God's call looks like. Waking up with his word on our tongue and his wisdom to face the day is so important. We remain thankful for years of making friends all over the globe. If you are reading this and haven't connected with us through email or facebook, please do. Many of you who will go the extra mile to visit this BLOG and see what's up with Living Sacrifice are the ones we miss...our friends who also sing that we've shared many platforms with, friends we've met all over the world, our family who we get to see a little more often now, anyone who is lingering around to see if anything continues with the legacy of Living Sacrifice. One of the first things people ask is, "don't you miss it?" We do. We miss our friends, we miss the music that God inspired us to sing and we miss "being" Living Sacrifice. Being Living Sacrifice meant that 4 people and 4 voices were together A LOT....traveling hours and hours each week, eating together, sleeping under the same roof many nights, sharing thoughts, talking about our daily lives, helping each other along our Christian walk, sharing joys and concerns, praying together, singing together and so much more. The Dills miss the Archers and vica versa. So.....on October 25, we set out on a weekend to St. Louis to just "be together". It was awesome. Lisa was in charge of planning the whole weekend this time. She did awesome...it was an adventure. Everything with Lisa is an adventure though...as you know. We ate dinner at Bissell Mansion in STL. It is mystery dinner theatre and quite entertaining. As we entered, we were given a "role" and could involve ourselves as much or as little as we wanted. Of course, it was our first time for this experience, so we just observed a lot. The food was good, but the best part was watching everyday people try to act out this mystery! It's was a great experience! We also went up in the Arch and walked around downtown. We lounged around the hotel in the hot tub and swimming pool. It was great...no schedule to keep or rush to get to the church to sing. We loved it.

One more unique thing about this Christmas is each of our households have "Coming Home For Christmas" playing and we're really enjoying listening. Something about not singing those songs 3-4 times each week brings a desire to hear it more often.

We miss you all.....you know who you are. If you are reading this and haven't checked in with us for a while, please do. Comment on this post with your email address and I'll send our addresses. God bless you all! From our houses to yours, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

This week....we will get together again for a Christmas bash. It's truly funny that we LOVE our times together now and the years we traveled we "needed" time away from each other.
The Dills and the Archers wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Our new season in life

Many of you have sent cards, emails and even some phone calls saying you're praying for us in our transition! Life is very interesting at times. On Sat., Aug. 23 I remembering waking up knowing it was our LAST CONCERT ever and thinking, "but it doesn't feel or seem any different than any other day!" As the day progressed, we were busy preparing for the night, the night came, we had an amazing time in worship and God allowed us to make it through without too many tears. The moment the night was done...the tears came.. The next day they came in buckets! At different moments that evening I had thoughts of, "I wonder if I will replay this moment in my mind." I have.

For the most part, I've moved on to new responsibilities, new ministry, new schedule, new feeling of being at home, new friends, a new identity, and some of it has been character-building! I am so thankful that the Lord makes us unique from each other. My relationship with my Lord and Savior has taking new shape. I was reminded last night in a prayer circle that I am not worthy of God's love, but I'm forgiven and loved by Him anyway. Daily I fail Him and yet He loves me. He's the same yesterday, today and forever. Yet, I'm beginning to learn so much more about Him.

Yesterday, was Kyle's birthday. I saw him when we woke up and when we went to bed, but not in between. However, today we get to celebrate at home together....ice cream, chocolate, I'm making him biscuits and gravy for breakfast. He's sleeping in! Everyday is new and I rejoice that I get to wake up and enjoy it.

Wishing you all well and hoping you'll still visit LSatHome when you get a chance. font-family: arial;"> To those of you who might just NOW be learning of the retirement of Living Sacrifice, I'm sorry we missed seeing you! You can read the posts below to understand how it all came about. We are happily carrying on with life at home! It's been one week since our Homecoming Farewell concerts. In Kirksville on Fri., Aug. 22 we had a packed house at First Baptist (home church of Marty & Lisa Archer). People drove from Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, Illinois, Arkansas, Nebraska and other states near and far to join us for two great evenings. We were so honored that so many people drove hours and days to be with us on these 2 special nights. In Macon...the same...packed house and even more to join us! In a 25-year span, you make lots of friends. God truly has blessed our lives with Living Sacrifice. We are excited to see how He will continue to work in our lives at home and in the new ministry areas we are involved in.
We've been on the road singing all our adult lives nearly every weekend. The typical things "normal" people do with their families, sitting in a Sunday School Class/Small Group, worshipping from a pew, going to a Ladies Night Out, fishing with the guys, boating on a holiday, or just being with family and friends, we've missed out on. Now...God has appointed us time for those things. AND....we are finding our place in serving in our church, community and in our friendships! We're very excited. Check out our Web Album from Homecoming & Farewell 2008!

Homecoming - Friday, Aug. 22 & Sat., Aug. 23, 2008

HOMECOMING & FAREWELL CONCERTS
FOR LIVING SACRIFICE
Two great evenings
Two Different Locations
Great Guests each Night!

Friday, August 22 at 7PM
in KIRKSVILLE, MO at First Baptist Church
(207 East Washington Street downtown Kirksville. It's been an incredible journey . What could possibly be more wonderful and fulfilling than traveling all over the country as best friends for 25 years? Nothing…absolutely nothing except Heaven itself! We have seen many parts of America, including Canada and the Caribbean, we have friends in all those places, many whom we are as close to as our biological families, and we have grown up together. Since 1990, the LS ministry and harmony has been the blend of two married couples, Marty Archer(Bass), Lisa Archer (Alto), Kyle Dill (Lead), and Patty Dill (Soprano & Pianist). Other great musicians have joined us along the way. God has enriched our lives through music and taken us on a journey far greater than we imagined. You have seen us in every hair style and clothing style, you’ve watched us grow from from 4 to 5 when Cole came along….and you’ve loved us through some pretty difficult times. Nothing could ever give us more joy than that.

The Bible is clear in Ecclesiastes 3 that there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. The decision of Living Sacrifice to close this "activity under heaven" has been a decision very difficult, yet, appropriate for this season of life. We have always dedicated ourselves to this ministry of Living Sacrifice and in doing so, have missed opportunities to minister in our home churches. We've missed "every day" things such as ballgames, school concerts, family get-togethers and other things in our personal lives due to singing. However, we've always been dedicated and sang without reservation. Somewhat like the US Post Office, we sang in rain, sleet, hail, snow, and through some difficulties that strengthened our faith, our friendship, and our resolve to continue sharing our faith. It's been an honor and privilege to carry the Gospel for so many years.

There will be lots of questions from you we realize...the most popular one... WHY? It is a decision that hasn’t come suddenly, but after months and even years of prayer and consideration. We are all 5 in agreement. Actually, that’s the way this ministry has always operated. If we have not all been in agreement, we have respected and trusted each other enough to hold back our own desires until we were all in one accord. I believe God has honored that and has blessed us with 25 rich years of ministry together. God is allowing us other opportunities to continue to serve him in different capacities. We desire to have more time with our family and involve ourselves in local church ministry as well. We would appreciate your prayers as each of us start new chapters and close this chapter.

We want the Homecoming concerts to mark a reason to celebrate all our years with a great evening of GREAT MUSIC and FUN WITH YOU, our dear friends, and with The Imperials and Crossway. Please come and join us in Kirksville and Macon. We want to see you and say thanks in person for the many ways you have blessed us. Please pray for the weekend of August 22 and 23, 2008. There will be bitter-sweet moments and we hope to be surrounded with ALL our great friends we've met throughout this ministry. Pass the word along and come join us!

Homecoming - Friday, Aug. 22 & Sat., Aug. 23, 2008

It's with great excitement that Living Sacrifice announces our celebration of 25 years together. Just kidding. I simply want to be resolved to hold to my commitments. In 2007, I committed to reading the Bible through. Well, I didn't make it but the positive news is that I read more of the Bible in '07 than ever before. I have started in 2008 and I am proud to say that as of today, January 2nd, I am right on schedule. Hahahaha. Not to tough for two days worth.

I am looking forward to some pretty cool things in my life in 2008. First, Patty and I celebrate 20 years of marriage. Second, I get to go to Alaska for the first time in my life. Third, my Missouri football Tigers finished the year in fine style by winning the Cotton Bowl and 2008 looks just as rosy. Fourth, I look forward to finishing my first year in the AWANA program with 5th/6th graders (AWANA is a great Bible instruction program). Fifth, more great things to come.

Enjoy 2008. You won't ever get the chance to live this year again. I did a little something different and added a note of a special Christmas memory of my past to their presents. To my Dad, I shared how fun it was to get PJs on Christmas Eve and how warm they were reminded me of how warm and safe I always felt in my Daddy's arms. Funny thing was, My Dad didn't remember the PJs. I had to get out the photo album and show him pics of me and my sister in our new PJs. Those photos reminded me of years gone by and how many are gone by. Now that my sister is in Heaven, I think about her a lot at Christmas and how wonderful Heaven must be for her! She has a new body! There's no boundary of AGE there! No more birthdays....everyday is a day of celebration and it will go one for eternity! WOW...isn't that great to think on? I'm glad that we have a season to celebrate God sending His son to be with us! It's a demonstration of how much God wants us to be with Him....for eternity. If you are reading this...get things right with God and except His son, Jesus! Read John (in the Bible) and learn how! Wishing my best friend, Lisa a Happy Birthday on the 23rd!
- Patty Dill

Fun with Lincoln!

I have only been a "Mom" in terms of being a Mentor to a young man, Mike Goering. Mike was 12 years old when Kyle and I met him and grew to be named His Momma and Papa Dill. So...now that Lincoln is a part of our lives, we love him like any grandparent does! This Christmas, we had 2 days to visit Lincoln, Mike and Adrienne in Overland Park, KS. Lincoln is such a joy I wish we lived closer so I could get my hands on him more often. Lincoln is standing and making all kinds of fun noises and smiles constantly....grips my heart!!! I'm a very blessed lady to have such great men in my life. We were up at 5:30 AM at a hotel in Des Moines and headed to Hartford, IA for a morning concert. We are at the church and hanging out behind the platform waiting for the service to begin. Kyle was putting a list of songs together for the worship and we were “helping”. Actually, we were all very slap-happy since we had a short night. Lisa chimes in that her back is really hurting and said she didn’t know what she’d do if it went out while we were singing. I said, “Do you want a chair?” She replied, “What would I do with a chair?” Marty chimed in, “Sit on it!”
On another note….we were traveling to Kirksville from Hartford and Marty was driving. Iowa had a little snow storm last night and so the roads were a little snow-covered at times. He hollers, “Road-check!” to which we all reply…. ”what’s that mean”….as we start to slide. No problem, he takes his foot of the brakes and all is well. Lisa asks, “Why do we need to do a roadcheck! We were going along just fine so just keep going…why do we have to create an accident just to see if we would have an accident!” I’m not sure but I’d say it’s one of those men are from Mars things!

Chicken or Pheasant Casserole - From my Mom's Kitchen

PHEASANT OR CHICKEN CASSEROLE by Leanna Martin
1 - Chicken or Pheasant cooked and deboned
3 eggs, beaten (add 4 cups of broth to that)
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 med. onion, chopped
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1-1/2 cups celery, diced
1-1/2 cups Velvetta cheese cut up
Mix above ingredients together
4 cups Ritz crackers, crushed on top
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 Hour.
My Mom used to make this at least one Sunday a month when I was in high school. As most of you know, 2 years ago, I was arrested for child abuse...Shaken Baby Syndrome. There have been lots of ups and downs through the whole process, but I can rejoice in saying that God answered a BIG prayer last Thursday for us. We held a Frye Hearing against the prosecutor, who is the Attorney Generals Office of MO. With an expert witness, we argued the scientific and medical aspect of SBS. It had NEVER been done in the state of MO., so naturally, it had NEVER been won. We did this on June 21st, and last Thursday, I got the phone call I had been long waiting for...WE WON! Actually...MY FATHER WON for me! The judge has made a ruling that if the prosecutor decides to go on and take it to trial, there will be nothing said of SBS, and no experts can be called. He also ruled that if there is a (small) subdural and retinal bleeding and no evidence of cranial trauma, you can NOT say it is SBS. Basically, my Father cut the legs out from under the prosecution! YEAH GOD! Today , Friday the 16th, was the last day that the prosecution had to appeal the ruling, and he didn't do it! YEAH GOD AGAIN! It was a nerve racking day, but HE was with me the whole time! Now, we just wait! Wait to see what happens. We have a trail setting date set for Dec. 20th..yes, I know..Christmas~ But, it's ok. God will be with me just as much then as He has ever been. Between now and then, the prosecutor could dismiss, but we don't know if he will or not. He could wait until that day, and then dismiss. Honestly, we don't know what they are going to do, but I know someone who does know, and HE will handle it! I can not even tell you what all of your prayers, e-mails, cards, and phone calls have meant to me and my family! I would also like to thank Kyle and Patty for the nights of Pizza and Prayer, Marty, Lisa, and Cole for your nonending prayers, and Lisa for the phone calls of "what does this mean on a medical record." I would also like to thank Cole for being so sweet and always believing in my innocence! You all mean so much to me and my family, and we LOVE you guys so much! Please continue to pray for us, that GOD's name will be praised for every victory! That is all we desire, is that God be seen in us in the midst of the storm! All My Love - Kathy Hyatt
PS...I have a new e-mail address and have lost some of your alls...it is khyatt@centurytel.net.

From Patty -- What Sundays are about

For years our Sundays on the road consisted of a late Saturday night arrival at the hotel, setting the alarm for 5 or 6 something, getting up with a short-night hangover, grabbing a quick donut or muffin, a short drive to the church, setup sound and sing. By afternoon, a nap is a must while the guys drive to our Sunday night location. Then, continue with a drive 3-8 hours or more home through the night. Not exactly a day of rest, but our days of rest were usually few and far between and came on a different day of the week.

This past year with the change in our road schedule, we've had more time to enjoy our families and friends, to do some fun things at home, and being involved at our home church. Today...Sunday, November 11 was very special for Kyle and I. Our Sunday morning routine still started early! At MaconFBC, our home, I am leading the band and playing piano at the current time. Kyle is our sound man for the band and so there's some prep for Sunday morning service. The BALL BROTHERS were singing a short set this morning during our Morning Worship and then a whole concert Sunday evening. If you haven't had a chance to get to a BALL BROTHERS concert....GO!! Drive the distance. A comment was heard over and over, "they are just little boys!" We had the chance to get to know them a little at lunchtime. They are originally from Illinois, now living in Georgia. They ARE brothers and have that young "Pop" 4-part harmony that is very unique. They love the Lord and love singing...that's obvious! You'll be hearing more about them, I'm sure! The concert was so refreshing and God just washed over us that day. It became obvious to me after a great Sunday how important Sunday in God's house is in our lives. We came home after the Evening concert and worship feeling empowered to begin a new week. God is so good and I praise Him for this blessed day!

I'm so thankful for this time in our lives. As the seasons change, so does the seasons of our lives. God has blessed Kyle and I and the ministry of Living Sacrifice so tremendously. To have the privilege to serve him in the many capacities is truly an honor. We are experiencing God in so many different ways and praise Him!

Next weekend, we are back on the road. We have had a tradition every year in our ministry to go to Mooresville, MO on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Nowhere in this world will you eat anything better than the community Thanksgiving Dinner at Mooresville! Diets go on hold, the love in the warm is overwhelming and God has blessed us with the opportunity to love on these people ALL our 24 years in ministry! Many, many places in the U.S. are near and dear to our hearts, but Mooresville is especially our place to be on Thanksgiving Sunday! Life came at us fast this week. On Monday Kyle's Mom, Sharon, was having neck pain and nausea non-stop, went to the ER and ended up having a stent put in one the major arteries of her heart. By Tuesday, she was home and on her way to recovery. Praise the Lord...prayer works!! Yesterday, a dear friend and mother of my brother-in-law passed away. It is a shock to our family in both of these cases and proof that life is fragile and temporary on this earth. I've talked with my folks 4 or 5 times this week asking for them to pray and keeping them updated moment by moment on Kyle's Mom. Everytime I call, I hear their voice and it comforts me. Those voices that I've loved for so long. Everytime I talk with them I pray that God will watch over them and protect them. Yesterday, at my office at the church, I received a photo through email from my little "grandson", Lincoln. Lincoln is Mike Goering's little boy. Kyle and I mentored Mike since he was a young boy and we have always been Momma and Papa Dill. I put Lincoln's picture on my desk. He changes more each week we see him and even though miles separate us, hearing voices, exchanged photos, and saying, "I love you" cannot separate us. So...if miles stand between you and the ones you love....call them, email them, but never stop showing your love to your family. This coming from someone who forgets to do that! Read Cole's blog below....there's coming a day soon I'm sure he'll be blogging more than we do. Our men....Kyle, Marty and Cole are quite the sports fans and now that Lisa and I are outnumbered, we are having to keep up more than every before. Kyle's a huge Chiefs fan. Anyone out there with a spare ticket....email me at kpdill@cvalley.net. He's got a birthday coming up!!! -Patty Dill

Cole Archer says "HI"

<a style="font-weight: bold;
