OFFICIALLY RETIRED 08/23/2008

To those of you who might just NOW be learning of the retirement of Living Sacrifice, I'm sorry we missed seeing you! You can read the posts below to understand how it all came about. We are happily carrying on with life at home! It's been one week since our Homecoming Farewell concerts. In Kirksville on Fri., Aug. 22 we had a packed house at First Baptist (home church of Marty & Lisa Archer). People drove from Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, Illinois, Arkansas, Nebraska and other states near and far to join us for two great evenings. We were so honored that so many people drove hours and days to be with us on these 2 special nights. In Macon...the same...packed house and even more to join us! In a 25-year span, you make lots of friends. God truly has blessed our lives with Living Sacrifice. We are excited to see how He will continue to work in our lives at home and in the new ministry areas we are involved in.
We've been on the road singing all our adult lives nearly every weekend. The typical things "normal" people do with their families, sitting in a Sunday School Class/Small Group, worshipping from a pew, going to a Ladies Night Out, fishing with the guys, boating on a holiday, or just being with family and friends, we've missed out on. Now...God has appointed us time for those things. AND....we are finding our place in serving in our church, community and in our friendships! We're very excited. Check out our Web Album from Homecoming & Farewell 2008!

LS bids farewell at Homecoming in August

Our Homecoming concerts on August 22 & 23 will mark the FAREWELL and retirement of Living Sacrifice, our music and ministry. It's been an incredible journey . What could possibly be more wonderful and fulfilling than traveling all over the country as best friends for 25 years? Nothing…absolutely nothing except Heaven itself! We have seen many parts of America, including Canada and the Caribbean, we have friends in all those places, many whom we are as close to as our biological families, and we have grown up together. Since 1990, the LS ministry and harmony has been the blend of two married couples, Marty Archer(Bass), Lisa Archer (Alto), Kyle Dill (Lead), and Patty Dill (Soprano & Pianist). Other great musicians have joined us along the way. God has enriched our lives through music and taken us on a journey far greater than we imagined. You have seen us in every hair style and clothing style, you’ve watched us grow from from 4 to 5 when Cole came along….and you’ve loved us through some pretty difficult times. Nothing could ever give us more joy than that.

The Bible is clear in Ecclesiastes 3 that there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. The decision of Living Sacrifice to close this "activity under heaven" has been a decision very difficult, yet, appropriate for this season of life. We have always dedicated ourselves to this ministry of Living Sacrifice and in doing so, have missed opportunities to minister in our home churches. We've missed "every day" things such as ballgames, school concerts, family get-togethers and other things in our personal lives due to singing. However, we've always been dedicated and sang without reservation. Somewhat like the US Post Office, we sang in rain, sleet, hail, snow, and through some difficulties that strengthened our faith, our friendship, and our resolve to continue sharing our faith. It's been an honor and privilege to carry the Gospel for so many years.

There will be lots of questions from you we realize...the most popular one... WHY? It is a decision that hasn’t come suddenly, but after months and even years of prayer and consideration. We are all 5 in agreement. Actually, that’s the way this ministry has always operated. If we have not all been in agreement, we have respected and trusted each other enough to hold back our own desires until we were all in one accord. I believe God has honored that and has blessed us with 25 rich years of ministry together. God is allowing us other opportunities to continue to serve him in different capacities. We desire to have more time with our family and involve ourselves in local church ministry as well. We would appreciate your prayers as each of us start new chapters and close this chapter.

We want the Homecoming concerts to mark a reason to celebrate all our years with a great evening of GREAT MUSIC and FUN WITH YOU, our dear friends, and with The Imperials and Crossway. Please come and join us in Kirksville and Macon. We want to see you and say thanks in person for the many ways you have blessed us. Please pray for the weekend of August 22 and 23, 2008. There will be bitter-sweet moments and we hope to be surrounded with ALL our great friends we've met throughout this ministry. Pass the word along and come join us!

Homecoming - Friday, Aug. 22 & Sat., Aug. 23, 2008

It's with great excitement that Living Sacrifice announces our celebration of 25 years together. You are invited to join us for two very special evenings in concert. Our two-night, two-city Living Sacrifice Homecoming will begin Friday, August 22 at 7PM in KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI at First Baptist Church (207 E Washington St.). The Grammy Award winning IMPERIALS (second generation) will be our honored guests. They will be singing some of their great songs that evening...don't miss it! The following evening in MACON, MISSOURI on Saturday, August 23 at 6PM, First Baptist Church (302 N Rutherford St.), we will host CROSSWAY from Nashville, TN. If you aren't familiar with their music, their harmony is reminiscient of Rascal Flatts. Their songs reflect their love and heart for the Lord. Come and prepare to be blessed each night!

Hello 2008

Kyle here. 2008 is here and I am resolved to not make a New Year's Resolution. Just kidding. I simply want to be resolved to hold to my commitments. In 2007, I committed to reading the Bible through. Well, I didn't make it but the positive news is that I read more of the Bible in '07 than ever before. I have started in 2008 and I am proud to say that as of today, January 2nd, I am right on schedule. Hahahaha. Not to tough for two days worth.

I am looking forward to some pretty cool things in my life in 2008. First, Patty and I celebrate 20 years of marriage. Second, I get to go to Alaska for the first time in my life. Third, my Missouri football Tigers finished the year in fine style by winning the Cotton Bowl and 2008 looks just as rosy. Fourth, I look forward to finishing my first year in the AWANA program with 5th/6th graders (AWANA is a great Bible instruction program). Fifth, more great things to come.

Enjoy 2008. You won't ever get the chance to live this year again. Kyle

Birthdays: Are they necessary?

In a matter of days, I'll be adding another year to my forties! How on earth can I be that age?
What happened? It's like I blinked and became 40.
In my mind I still feel like my 20's and 30's.

Over Christmas we spend a couple of days with my parents in Bloomfield and had a great time together as a family. I did a little something different and added a note of a special Christmas memory of my past to their presents. To my Dad, I shared how fun it was to get PJs on Christmas Eve and how warm they were reminded me of how warm and safe I always felt in my Daddy's arms. Funny thing was, My Dad didn't remember the PJs. I had to get out the photo album and show him pics of me and my sister in our new PJs. Those photos reminded me of years gone by and how
many are gone by. Now that my sister is in Heaven, I think about her a lot at Christmas and how wonderful Heaven must be for her! She has a new body! There's no boundary of AGE there! No more birthdays....everyday is a day of celebration and it will go one for eternity! WOW...isn't that great to think on? I'm glad that we have a season to celebrate God sending His son to be with us! It's a demonstration of how much God wants us to be with Him....for eternity. If you are reading this...get things right with God and except His son, Jesus! Read John (in the Bible) and learn how! Wishing my best friend, Lisa a Happy Birthday on the 23rd!
